About the Artist
Our Craftsman, Bob Allen, was born in Eureka,
California; the heart of Redwood country. Growing up
in the 1950's, you couldn't help but be influenced by
the logging and lumbering taking place in Humboldt
County. After high school graduation, Bob worked
four summers in the world's largest lumber mill to
pay for his St. Mary's College education. It was here
that his lasting appreciation for the beauty and
timelessness of redwood and redwood burl was
formed. Over the next thirty years Bob held consumer
goods marketing positions in San Fransisco, Los
Angeles, San Diego and finally San Jose, California.
Throughout his marketing career, Bob was known for
his creativity in program development, problem
solving and new products. One such new product
was featured in numerous national media. It is this
creativity that Bob brings to his sculpted
woodworking. Bob's goal is to create "one of a kind"
pieces that are functional, affordable and yet retain
the natural lines, contours and beauty of the wood.
Bob participates in various art shows and festivals
throughout California usually accompanied by his
wife Blaine. Most recently winning the Tapestry Arts Festival Invitational
Circle Award, San Jose, CA. Bob's work is always evolving and is in private
collections from coast to coast.
